Show Low

This unique city was named after a legendary poker game played between two of its pioneers. The gentlemen decided that there was not enough room for both of them on the 100,000-acre ranch, and so they agreed to settle their feud with a card game. As the story is told, the card game became quite lengthy, and eventually one of them said, “If you can show low, you win.”
The other one turned up the deuce of clubs and replied, “show low it is.” The main street in Show Low is named “Deuce of Clubs” as a head-nod to the tale.

Show Low is now the largest city in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona. With over two million acres of National Forest land near Show Low and over 40 lakes and streams in the region, activities like camping, rowing, hiking, snowboarding, and skiing are popular. Back in the city, visitors will find local arts & entertainment as well as an award-winning casino.
